Christmas time

Christmas time has always been special to me. When I was a little girl, it meant being on holiday, having time to play and thinking hard about what to say and what to ask for in my letter to the Three Wise Men (or the Magi) and waiting with expectation for January, 6th.

Today, "some years" later, it means family and friends, getting together around a table full of delicious dishes, going to the cinema, shopping for presents ... It also means rushing around to get things done, because there are so many things to be done at Christmas!

However, everything I do, I do it with pleasure and, although I might feel stressed now and then, there's always affection and dedicated thinking to all people involved. From the moment I buy Christmas cards and send them, to the moment I go for a last minute shopping afternoon, there's always this warm feeling inside.

Something that has remained the same throughout the years is the feeling of expectation for the Magi's presents on January 6th. I might sound silly, but when everything is ready for the children and I finally go to bed, I always spend some time wondering about what I'll find on my shoes when I wake up in the morning ...

What's Christmas for you? Have your say!

  1. I remember when I was a child (not long ago) Christmas for me was very important; it meant many good things like not going to school, receiving presents, eating candies and cakes, watching movies all the afternoons, and specially sleep a lot. I expected January 6th with emotion, because I had forward to see which presents the Three Wise Men had brought me.

And now I wait for Christmas for similar reasons; I want to see my family and celebrate this holidays with them, I want to sleep more, and I wait to January 6th with the same illusion than when I was 7.

Also, in this season I love shopping (specially in the center of the city) because there are a lot of people in the streets and shops, and lights make the streets more nice, and beautiful. It seems that you are happy all time.
I really love all holidays, but personally I think Christmas is the best celebration to be with the family.

  2. Hi everyone.
When I was a kid, Christmas was only a time when I have to sing Christmas carol in the school and the streets were illuminated, nothing else.
I remember one Christmas when without know anything, I went with all my family to my grandmother’s house and I found with all my relatives. The real surprise was when my grandma asks to me for share out the presents. I understood nothing. Later my parents explain me that we were on Christmas.
In the last years Christmas is a good occasion to meet with the family and eat good food cooked by my grandma. In my family, since ever, on 25th December we have lunch at my father’s mother house and on 26th December, ‘Sant Esteve’, we have lunch at my mother’s mother house.
In my family the important days are the 25th, 26th and 31th December and the 6th January. Santa Claus never gives me a present, in my house the only who brings gifts are the Magi’s.

  3. Hi !!
Christmas I think it's a time to be with family and friends. I have always liked it for different reasons. For instance, when I was child, well a few years ago, wanted it to be Christmas because were holidays and received many gifts, I loved opening presents.
I remember, that I always wrote the letter to the Three Wise Men weeks earlier, wrote with great enthusiasm and delusion and waiting with many forward for January, 6th. These days, also were hard to make great lunches and dinners with delicious dishes and sweets such as candies, chocolates, among other things.
Many people think that these dates are stressful, but I think it should take it slow, are days to relax. Also I have the habit of sending postcards to some raw that I have to congratulate the holidays. The truth is that at the end this holidays celebrated around the world and although each site is celebrated differently, the feeling, the sensations and spirit just the same. For many years go forever Christmas will be present and in a few years, when I formed my family I can see that I've lived in my children, with the illusion to wake up to open presents early morning and the desire to be Christmas.

  4. For me, Christmas is a time where people enjoy the fun and beautiful moments with their family.

When I was a child, I used to write a letter for Santa Claus and every year I used to draw something to my parents and grandmother, because I didn't have enough money to buy a gift. I liked a lot this epoch because I ate a lot of sweets and nougat, I was on holidays and I received a lot of presents from my uncles, cousins and my grandmother. On 24th my parents always organized a dinner where they came most of my family and when they were twelve o'clock, we began to open presents. Then older began to sing and talk while the kidsstarted to play with enthusiasms with our new toys.

Actually my parents continue doing the dinner with the family, but now I don't wait for Christmas with the same spirit. I really don't care if a received a lot of presents, I think that Christmas for me has become a time where I can relax from school. The truth is that I pass a lot of time with my family for this reason I don't see so much the difference with that day and another.

Even so I like so much Christmas, I reckon that is a time where a lot of families who usually can't meet can have a good time together. And the streets, the people and shops look brighter and warmer.

  5. Hi everyone,
I really don't know to describe what's for me Christmas. When I was little, it was this time when i had more emotion. I will focus on the Three Wise Men, not Santa Claus, because i lived that with more intensely.

One of things I liked most was decorate the Christmas tree, because we hung up lamps, plushes and the most important: the star. I remember every year I used to write a letter to the Three Wise Men (always with lots of pictures) and the day before his arrival I was very impatient, and I used to go to bed early thinking about tomorrow. But of course, the special was the next day when my brother woke up me and both were going to the room of my parents to tell them the kings had left a pile of presents under the tree. For me the highlight of that season was just this, unlike now I have a different view of Christmas.

I just think that people are more happier this time. Decorate the streets, shops, and only leave the house and smell the magic of the season. I like it because I have more time to spend with parents, friends ... Celebrate the holidays with the family, we are all together, and we'll have lunch. Besides, I like this season to relax from school, exams and work.

In short, the vision is very different from when I was little and now of Christmas, but what has not changed is the illusion that gives me.

  6. Hi!
When I was a child, i was waiting all the year for Christmas. In one hand, on Christmas we didn't have classes, and I really liked not to go to school. In other hand, i loved to did the "Tió" with my cousins every year, to went to my grandparents house for singing and eating, and to wait with expectation for January 6th.
I remember that it was the season when I was more emotioned, and I used to write the letter to the Three Wise Men on November, because I was very impacient!

Now, I love Christmas too, but I enjoy other things. I don't really care about the presents, because I know that they aren't the most important. The important is to have a good time with your family. Christmas, for me, is a time to celebrate, to be happy, to stay with family and friends, and to relax from school.
It's a time to eat candies and sweeets, to sing and laugh, to smile. And to wait for January 6th, too.
Also, I like a lot decorating the Christmas tree. I think it's funny!

However, there are some things that I don't like of Christmas. Firstly, it is cold, and you have to wear a lot of clothes that are uncomfortable. Secondly, if you want to go shopping, there's a lot of people everywhere.

In definitive, I like so much Christmas and I think that is the best celebration of the year, and the most happiest time too. I wouldn't trade Christmas for anything, because it brings illusion and happiness.

    1. Hello!

I think that Christmas is the time of year where feelings are more manifested.

When I was a child, I expected the Christmas Day and January 6th, with the emotion to celebrate this dates with my family and receive many gifts. Also I spent time thinking and writing a letter for the Three Wise Men, about what gifts I was excited to have. The night before, always I prepare a table full of food for them and their camels.

These celebrations are very special for me because I like the meals that usually eat these days, and the sweets such as: waffles, nougats, cakes, candies, etc ...

In this dates, I like to wander the streets and see decorated with Christmas lights, see the shops full of people, going to the cinema with my family or friends, and make hot chocolate with my cousins, etc ...

However, we must not forget to be solidary with less lucky people.

  8. Christmas, is the most beautiful time of the year for me. It represents happiness, kindness, love... and the most important, magic.

Obviously is not the same now that I've got 15 years old, that when I was younger. I remember these long nights when I couldn't even sleep, thinking that the Magi would come to my house and they would bring me all the gifts I wished to have. This sensation was so beautiful and magical.
Now I don't have the same feeling and that saddens me a little. But I have always a good time, eating with my family and going to the shopping center to buy all the presents. That's why it stills being my favorite time at the year.

  9. Hello!
In former times I used to be so excited when my family was preparing everything for Christmas Time and I used to stay quiet and be a good little girl because I wanted to have a lot of presents! I remember that I didn't care if I misbehave or I made my parents getting angry the rest of the year, but the previous days of January 6th I used to act as the most educated and best girl in the whole world. Also I used to ask for expensive, big and new toys but no one ever gave it to me because I have never been a spoiled child.
All the same, the best time for me has always been when all my family, including my grandfather's, get together and have lunch while we talk about interesting things which have been changing along time.
Finally, I just hope that this year to be the same as the others, I want to do the same old thing, I want to have fun and have a lot of happiness beside the people who I love. Maybe it all gets better, but I will be happy if we keep the same habits!

  10. Hi everybody,
For me, Christmas is a feeling. I see Christmas in the smiles of children, who are full of hope running throw the streets, I see it in the desire to enjoy with the family all the time, un the child who comes out of our soul at this time of the year. We are all a little happier un Christmas.

I remember when I was a child and I had to sing for parents at school. I knew that we didn't for ourselves but yes for our parents, for their happiness. Saw parents become children again, without frowns and worries, it was the best gift I could ask for. Now that I'm a little bit older I have fear of being like that old person with a frown and worries who don't think about the magic of Christmas.

I want to be a child forever, and Christmas gives me the excuse to make my wish come true. Don't fail to belive in magic of Christmas.

  11. Hi
I think that Christmas is the most beautiful time of the year. All of families in the world stay together in this time. I like Christmas because Lights fill the streets spreading so much cheer
Everyone's gathering around the fire and all of children are illusion for the presents.
When I was young I liked more Christams than now, everything was magic.
